Familiar southern lingo – A term with a lot of history here in Louisiana, from root beer to gumbo to attitude about life! Sassafras is the source of food and nourishment for a particular butterfly, allowing it to grow and change to reach its full potential through the lifespan. I hope to help you, your family, and your children move through the developmental stages of life with greater ease, efficiency, and success!
I’m Katherine Gristina, MS, LOTR, CHC. I am a Certified Health Coach, Occupational Therapist, and owner of Sassafras Therapy + Wellness Center. A little about me: I completed my Bachelor’s degree at Spring Hill College and my Master’s in Occupational Therapy at UAB. I have 12+ years of experience working with children and adults in the hospital, NICU, and outpatient settings. I am certified in the pediatric Neuro-Development Treatment Approach. I have continuing education and certifications in infant/pediatric massage, children’s yoga, and etiquette for kids. I am an expert in children’s hand development and handwriting. I am a certified health coach with the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute. I live in southern Louisiana and spend my free time with my husband, Scott, and our three children, Lucas, Gwyneth, and Abram. I enjoy coaching soccer, playing outside, cooking healthy meals, and hanging out with family and friends.
I have worked with many mommas over the years and have had three kiddos of my own. I love being a mom and all of the challenges it brings. I am so excited to help other women navigate this wonderful world of motherhood, beginning in the beginning, with pregnancy! I have learned so much through my own experience, but also through my work as an OT and other certifications. I love talking to soon-to-be mommas about their goals, offering guidance and support. My goal is to help moms have a healthy, happy experience and positive birth story.
